I must admit that I am the first person to hop onto a review site when I am booking a holiday. Whether I am looking for apartments worldwide a weekend in a chateau or a health farm, my first instinct is to look at the faithful old search engine and see what reviews are out there.
Admittedly, nothing seems to hit the nail on the head quite as well as Tripadvisor does as they seem to have got it down to a fine art and there are some others that are pretty close in terms of quality and quantity.
Others have got lost by the wayside somewhat and there are many review sites out there which have outdated or obviously biased material, with one site I googled just today containing reviews from six years ago and nothing else.
If I am looking for something a little out of the ordinary, I will try and find a new review site especially dedicated to this niche. For example, if you are looking for an ayurvedic spa or fitness boot camp, you are likely to find better quality reviews from comparisons between the same.
I do not let the review site make the decision for me, but rather use it as a guide to help me to discover the best of the best.
